Celebrating the Impact of Autism Nova Scotia's Contributions

In April, communities worldwide are gearing up to observe Autism Awareness Month. This month is dedicated to increasing awareness, promoting acceptance, and celebrating the unique talents and contributions of autistic individuals. In Nova Scotia, Autism Nova Scotia plays a vital role in these efforts.

Autism Nova Scotia's mission:

Parents of an adult son with autism, Joan and Jack Craig, founded Nova Scotia (formerly the Provincial Autism Centre) in October 2002, dedicated to improving the lives of people and families living with autism spectrum disorders in Nova Scotia through a variety of programs, services, and initiatives.

April’s Activities:

The organization is going to honour an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution to the autism community in the province by presenting them with the Joan Craig Trailblazer Award on April 30, 2024. The nominations for this award are open until March 22.

Also in April, Autism Nova Scotia will be presenting the Amy Farnell Education Awards for post-secondary students on the autism spectrum. These awards are a testament to the organization’s dedication to supporting the educational aspirations of autistic individuals.
